MOSCOW — The master of ceremonies at the nightclub was cracking jokes late on Friday, surrounded by hundreds of people eating sushi and dancing with drinks in hand, when a pyrotechnic display ignited a plastic ceiling decorated with twigs. “Ladies and gentlemen!” the M.C. shouted. “We are on fire! Leave the hall!”

HEALTH: Pregnant Women Must Learn About Vitamin D
NHS chiefs have said that pregnant women must be educated about the importance of taking vitamin D supplements.
A plan of action is now to be put in place, in light of a campaign by 14-year-old Glasgow schoolboy Ryan McLaughlin after he saw his mother with MS.
He believes vitamin D can help prevent the condition and has appealed for free vitamin D supplements for children and pregnant women, taking his case to Holyrood’s petitions committee.

TELEGRAPH – Tony Blair’s new paymaster is an obscure oligarch with business links to Syria, Iran and Afghanistan, The Daily Telegraph has learnt.
Nizami Piriyev, an Azerbaijan-based millionaire, paid Mr Blair to fly to Baku, the capital, earlier this week to open his new “methanol plant” funded by a British government-backed bank.

CLIMATEGATE – Greenhouse Gas Carbon Dioxide Ramps Up Aspen Growth
The study, by scientists from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Minnesota at Morris (UMM) and published today (Dec. 4) in the journal Global Change Biology, shows that elevated levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide during the past 50 years have boosted aspen growth rates by an astonishing 50 percent.
NOTE: Apparently plants absorb CO2 and convert it to sugar and oxygen.

BRITAIN: Docs Demand Inquest to ‘Prove Dr David Kelly Was Murdered’
TELEGRAPH: Six eminent doctors have launched a legal action to reopen the inquest into the death of Dr David Kelly in an attempt to prove he was murdered.
They plan to publish a report which they claim proves the weapons expert did not commit suicide, as the Hutton Report decided, and have hired lawyers to call on Baroness Scotland, the Attorney General, and the coroner Nicholas Gardiner to re-examine the circumstances of his death.
